Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Paris, check into hotel and rest before dinner.
Day 2
Your day begins with a tour of Paris in a minibus, escorted by a local guide. This half-day sightseeing tour traces the 2000-year history of Paris covering Rivoli street and the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. Highlights also include Grand Palais, the Louvre with its glass pyramid, and Notre Dame cathedral. You will cross over to the Marais district before arriving at the left bank and the Latin Quarter to see the Pantheon, the Luxembourg gardens, and the Invalides.
The evening features a ballet performance of the renowned Paris Opera Ballet at either the opulent Palais Garnier or contemporary Opera Bastille.
Day 3
In the morning, a guided tour of the Palais Garnier will introduce you to the opera house's history, its architecture and the activities that take place within it.
Later, you will make your way to Montmartre, the lively artist district, which was the site of the greatest painting movements of the 19th and 20th century. After a funicular ride to the summit, your guide will take you through the charming, narrow streets, while giving information about the district's history. You’ll see the Moulin de la Galette and the Sacre Coeur Basilica. A contemporary dance performance at Theatre des Champs Elysees will end the day.
Day 4
You will be guided through the major sections of the Louvre to view the gallery of Italian painters, the Egyptian antiquities, the Venus of Milo, Mona Lisa and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. Your guide will then leave you on your own to deepen your knowledge or to shop in the galleria of the museum.
In the evening you will have dinner at the Altitude 95 restaurant on the 1st floor of the Eiffel Tower, overlooking the Seine and the Trocadero. After dinner, you will depart on a cruise along the Seine and under the bridges of Paris to discover why Paris is called the City of Light.
Day 5
A three-hour train ride through the Chunnel on the Eurostar high-speed train will bring you to London. After checking into your hotel and taking a rest, you will attend an evening performance of the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House.
Day 6
A morning tour will introduce you to London's West End, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament, as well as Downing Street, residence of the prime minister. Next up is Trafalgar Square for the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and, from there, lunch at one of London's award-winning pubs. After lunch you will enjoy the superb riverside views on the Thames River cruise. Then you will visit the 900-year-old Tower of London, housing the Crown Jewels and, finally, venture on to St. Paul's Cathedral.
The evening features a contemporary dance performance at Sadler’s Wells or a classical production of the English National Ballet at the London Coliseum. Before the performance, you will have the opportunity to participate in an informal pre-performance talk to gain an insight into the creation of the production, see costumes in close detail, meet members of the orchestra and watch the dancers participate in their warm-up class.
Day 7
The next morning, you'll take a fantastic tour of the Royal Opera House, which features a walk through the backstage areas, set design and costume workshops as well as the dance studios for a rare opportunity to see the Royal Ballet company taking their warm-up class. At certain times of the year, open rehearsals are held by select ballet companies at various venues throughout the city.
