Teatro dell'Opera in Rome holds its summer opera and ballet season at the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla (Terme di Caracalla), where you can enjoy opera under the stars in the open air. The opera and ballet performances for the summer season at the Baths of Caracalla feature the orchestra, chorus and the ballet company of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma as well as international stars. It is located just a short walk from the Circus Maximus.
The French opera comique in four acts is composed by Georges Bizet and directed by Franco Zeffirelli. Set in Spain, the opera follows the story of a free-spririted woman and her obsessive lover, a Spanish soldier, resulting ultimately, in their doom.
