Teatro dell'Opera in Rome holds its summer opera and ballet season at the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla (Terme di Caracalla), where you can enjoy opera under the stars in the open air. The opera and ballet performances for the summer season at the Baths of Caracalla feature the orchestra, chorus and the ballet company of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma as well as international stars. It is located just a short walk from the Circus Maximus.
The opera in three acts by Verdi, based on the novel 'La Dame aux Camélias' by Alexadre Dumas Jr., is set in Paris in the 19th century and tells the story of the life of a beautiful courtesan.
