Tuscany: Puccini Festival

The Puccini Festival is held in Torre del Lago, Italy, an hour from Florence and 30 minutes from Lucca, Puccini's birthplace. Founded in 1930, the annual summer festival presents the most beloved operas of Italian composer Giacomo Puccini in an open-air theatre by Lake Massaciuccoli, near Villa Puccini, where the composer lived and worked.

If you're unable to attend the festival, the Villa Museo Puccini, which houses artifacts from Puccini's life, offers guided tours.

Hotels We Love near the Puccini Festival

Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte
The renovated, luxury hotel in Viareggio, which originates from the early 20th century, is located minutes away from Puccini Festival and steps away from the beach. The rooms covering give floors offer views of the sea, are beautifully decorated in various styles and feature marble bathrooms.

Villa Marta Hotel
In an 18th century villa, the hotel sits in the countryside between Pisa from Lucca. With only 15 rooms, the style is traditional, yet elegant, with exposed beams, frescoed ceilings, and antique furnishings.
