Paris: Salle Pleyel

In 1927, the already 100-year old piano manufacturer, Pleyel, built this performance venue devoted soley to concert music. During its illustrious history, Stravinsky, Otto Klemperer, Daniel Barenbo?m, Louis Armstrong, Ravi Shankar, among many others have all made their mark here.

In 1998, Salle Pleyel was put up for sale and later closed in 2002 for renovation. Beyond the restoration of the fa?ades, foyer and the auditorium, work was completed to create state-of-the-art, high-performance acoustics to improve clairty and the sense of being enveloped by the music. Also, the reconfiguration of the auditorium brought the audience closer to the stage.
