Madrid: Teatro Real

Teatro Real, the opera theater of Madrid, opened its doors in 1850 in a location across from the royal palace. Teatro Real closed for extensive renovations spanning almost a decade and reopened in 1997. While the theater is compact, some of the views are obstructed. Teatro Real offers tours regularly in multiple languages and has a museum on site of documents, costumes, set pieces and other artifacts chronicling the theater's history.
