If you're not able to make it to Milan or London this year to attend a live opera performance, La Scala and the Royal Opera will come to you. Similar to the Met's opera in HD series, European opera houses are broadcasting live performances on the big movie screen.
People who enjoy ballet also get a treat. The Bolshoi Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet and Royal Ballet companies have performances in HD coming to a theater near you. Even Shakespeare's Globe Theatre has gotten in on the act with broadcasts of Henry V and Macbeth.
The best thing is that you won't need opera glasses. Every seat in the movie theater will better than an orchestra seat.
